Description
Want to support Joseph Woodley’s work? (Or pay for a book you’re picking up in person?)
Over the past year, Joseph Woodley has donated books to several ministries so that they can begin to use this resource with children. However, printing in small batches can get expensive. Paying it forward will help Joseph provide books for more children while being able to afford future printings and publishing new materials. Not a tax deduction.
About Being Brave:
Being Brave is a gentle and sensitive resource for children, whether they have suffered sexual abuse or are being taught what to do if they are hurt in that way. Through the voice of his childhood self, Joseph Woodley extends a hand to help children move from pain, shame, and fear to a future of healing and protection alongside safe adults.
Is Being Brave an age-appropriate way to discuss this issue with my children even if they’ve never been exposed to this topic?
Yes! Though we always suggest that you read through the book first, everything is delicately worded and age-appropriate. Even if they don’t understand what made Joe so sad, their little minds will have a layer of defense against the fear and shame that so often accompany victims of sexual violence. Joseph’s journey and the lessons he learned are designed to help any child speak out quickly and receive help from the safe people around them.
